Alice

” “Its raining, mom. It’s raining! Come, look!” Said Alice. She ran to the huge window in the Greggors’ study placed in the center of their mansion. The moist air filled the room as Alice pushed open the creaking windows, standing on her tip-toes. Her brunette hair fell back as she lifted her head and took a deep breath, taking in the brown smell of the wet earth.
“It’s finally here, the monsoon, mother. Don’t you just love the rain mom?”
There was silence, but it was soon filled by the little girl’s giggles. The droplets on her face made her giggle. The thought of her playing in the rain made her giggle.
The sun had just set, and the scarlet orange still lingered around before it could be swallowed by the night. Alice loved the study. Alice loved the study because she spent most of her time there. Alice spent most of her time there because  she met her mother there. Alice met her mother there because… well, maybe some things should be left unanswered.
The darkness enveloped soon, slowly at first, then before you could realize it, it was there, like smoke. Dark, polluted smoke. But Alice didn’t let the darkness take over completely. The mansion was lit grandly. Not just tonight, but every night. She lit the little lamps, she lit the big lamps, she lit the tiny bulbs, she lit the big lights. Alice liked the pretty chandeliers that were hung all over the house. But that was not the only thing hanging in the house… This was something she had treasured. Hanging in the study, for as long as she could remember.
Alice loved the study. Alice loved the study because she spent most of her time there. Alice spent most of her time there because she met her mother there. Alice met her mother there because…”

  1. I love your blog, and your writing is fkn amazing. But could you please please explain ‘Alice’?

    1. Hey thanks a ton! It means a lot.
I would’ve explained it to you but if I do that I feel it would take something away from the story. So I think your interpretation of it is what matters anyway 😉
